Firmenhistorie
Gebrüder Markewitsch GmbH was founded in 1946 by Johann and Andreas Markewitsch with the initial focus of removing war debris from Nuremberg’s urban districts and delivering building materials to the city. But, thanks to the German economic miracle, the company soon found itself expanding its operational capacities and switching its focus to the transport of cement using special vehicles with silo containers.
In 1964, the company founders turned their attention to another new field of business: the truck-mounted crane. Later in 1964, the company acquired its first lattice boom truck crane and soon thereafter, in 1967, its first telescopic crane. Further milestone acquisitions in the company’s development were a 125-tonne telescopic crane in 1978, a 300-tonne telescopic crane (the first in Franconia) in 1986, and a 500-tonne telescopic crane in 1992.
In addition to pursuing its technical aspirations, the company management was at pains to establish high quality standards, and as a result became the first haulage company in the region to become certified per the DIN EN ISO 9001 standard. Thanks to its continued growth, the company soon ranked among the leading providers of crane services, oversize and overweight load transportation, and assembly logistics. Today, the Markewitsch group boasts numerous branches and subsidiaries in Franconia and a staff of over 300.
